About
The Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering from the São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC) of the University of São Paulo (USP) began in 1970 with the Master in Sciences Degree, and in 1976 with a Doctor in Sciences Degree.
The program aims to develop qualified human resources to work in research and development in the field of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering and annually grants around 30 master and 17 doctoral titles, having formed to this date over 700 masters and 400 doctors.
The program received, in 2017, the Grade 5 of CAPES, thus being one of the 12 graduate programs in mechanical engineering in the country with CAPES Grade greater or equal to 5. It is divided in four areas:
- Aeronautics
- Dynamics and Mechatronics
- Mechanical Design, Materials and Manufacturing
- Thermal and Fluid Mechanics

Master Degree: The Master's Program is a post-graduate level course that delivers the Master in Sciences Diploma and is aimed at training professionals who must take advanced level courses and present a dissertation on a topic of relevance. Applicants should have undergraduate degrees in engineering and related fields (preferably).
Doctoral Degree: The Doctoral Program delivers the Doctor in Sciences Diploma and is aimed at training researchers capable of acting independently who wish to pursue an academic career and/or work in research and development areas. Applicants should have a Master degree in engineering and related fields (preferably).
Direct Doctoral Degree: The Direct Doctoral Program has the same characteristics as the Doctorate Program, however, it is aimed at candidates who do not have a Master degree. Applicants should have undergraduate degrees in engineering and related fields (preferably), with high academic performance.
